I was wondering whether I wanted to go see Fahrenheit 9/11, Michael Moore’s ‘expose’ of America, Bush II, and all things western, so I decided to do some checking up on it.
Found this: a Christopher Hitchens review of the film.
Ouch! ‘Nuff said.
No, I won’t be going to see propaganda with clear untruths embedded liberally throughout.
UPDATE:
One of my developers, Alan Bailward (blog) mentioned that one should actually see the film that one is criticizing before actually criticizing it.
Well, good point.
The only point I made back to him is that Christopher Hitchens is supposed to be kind of leftish-leaning … and if this is how he felt about Fahrenheit 9/11 … that was good enough for me.
I’d actually still like to see the documentary. I’d just like to do it in a way that didn’t put any cash in Michael Moore’s pocket.
😉
Well, I can show you a bunch of other pages with a completely different opinion. Most would say what MM does in editing is no different than what Rush L, Fox News, or in fact any other documentary film maker has ever done.
I think that you shouldn’t be swayed by one page saying it’s crap, but see the movie and judge for yourself.
What mostly amuses me are the anti-MM pages saying he’s a liar, evil, anti-american, etc, all coming from this “free country” with that “freedom of speach” thing they keep talking about.
Of course, if your mind is already made up about Bush, you won’t be swayed anyway, so there’s no harm in seeing the film, right? 🙂
Your left wing anti-establishmentarian workerbee, alan 🙂
BTW, could you make the textarea boxes a bit bigger? 🙂
Well, you can find it pretty easily if you look hard enough 🙂 (*cough*suprnova.org*cough*).
A retort to much of the critics:
