Seeing (and stating) the obvious:
The obscure we see eventually. The completely obvious, it seems, takes longer.
Edward R. MurrowThe more original a discovery, the more obvious it seems afterwards.
Arthur KoestlerIt requires a very unusual mind to undertake the analysis of the obvious.
Alfred North WhiteheadDo you know what makes a man a genius? The ability to see the obvious.
Charles McCarry
I would love to credit Marc Peabody – who collected this list of quotes – with a link, but he is unfortunately blogless.
I saw these (among others) on Kathy Sierra’s excellent post on Why “Duh” … Isn’t.

For fun, I thought I’d share a great quote I heard from a team member of mine in my graduate school class. His boss was holding a press conference and was asked the same question about 5 times by a particularly persistent reporter. His boss finally said: “I can explain it to you; I just can’t understand it for you.”
That is a GREAT quote. Hilarious.
I think I might have to use that sometime.
Personally, I can’t wait for the right opportunity!
