Today Facebook and Carnegie Mellon unveiled a COVID-19 symptom map that could be extremely helpful for states and city officials who are making decisions about re-opening their regions in the next weeks or months.
There’s probably not a bigger or more comprehensive tool available, since Facebook and Google are providing huge amounts of anonymized data.
“Thus far, CMU is receiving about one million responses per week from Facebook users,” according to Carnegie Mellon’s press release. “Last week, almost 600,000 users of the Google Opinion Rewards and AdMob apps were answering another CMU survey each day.”
