Apptronik Teases New Robot, Stacks C-Suite With Waymo, Boston Dynamics, Amazon Vets

My latest at Forbes: Apptronik just loaded up its executive team with veterans from Waymo, Boston Dynamics, Amazon, iRobot and Paramount+. Five new hires, all VP or SVP level. The Austin-based humanoid robot company closed a $935 million Series A at a $5.3 billion valuation back in February, so it has the cash to attract serious talent.

The new additions cover product (from Waymo/23andMe), services and support (Boston Dynamics), software (Amazon), marketing (Paramount+/Amazon) and people operations (Cellino/iRobot). The company also teased a new robot model, though didn’t reveal details yet.

Why does this matter? In humanoid robotics, talent is limited and increasingly concentrated. When a company starts pulling top people from the best shops in the industry, that’s a signal. The winners here are going to pull further and further ahead. Apptronik has been relatively quiet for a stretch. This hiring flurry suggests they’re about to get loud again.
