Just posted to my Forbes column about a genuinely surprising AI power move that could finally change how Siri works — and who it works with.

In this piece, I unpack Apple and Google’s newly announced multiyear collaboration that puts Google’s Gemini models at the foundation of Apple’s next-generation AI. It’s a major shift away from ChatGPT, a big validation moment for Gemini, and arguably a quiet admission that Apple wasn’t getting where it needed to go on AI fast enough on its own. The upside? A smarter, more capable, more conversational Siri that can actually answer questions instead of punting them elsewhere — all while Apple insists it’s still maintaining its privacy-first approach.

This may look like a white flag for Apple, but it could turn out to be a savvy long-term strategy: better AI now, without burning tens of billions on GPUs and data centers, while keeping options open for the future. For Google, though, it’s an unmistakable win — and another sign that Gemini’s momentum is very real.
