Hey, you’ve gotta check out this article I just read on Forbes about Faraday Future – you know, the EV company? Well, apparently, they’re not just doing cars anymore, they’ve gone full sci-fi and launched a whole fleet of new robots! We’re talking five distinct lines, nine different configurations, and prices ranging from a super affordable $9,990 for a little hip-high humanoid perfect for classrooms or robot soccer, all the way up to a whopping $137,900 for an industrial behemoth that can walk into places you definitely wouldn’t want to send a human.
Their CEO, YT Jia, has this really smart way of thinking about it. He compares it to cars – we have so many different types just to move people from A to B, right? So for robots, which are tackling like 10,000 different tasks, imagine how many forms they need! They’ve got everything from full-size humanoids (the Futurist series) to these amazing wheeled-legged quadrupeds called Aegis. These four-legged bots are super clever: they roll fast on flat ground for efficiency, but then switch to using their legs to climb stairs and get over obstacles. One of them, the Ultra-W, can zoom at 12 mph while clearing obstacles over two feet high!
Jia makes a great point that while humanoids will cover a lot of tasks because our world is built for human shapes, specialized robots are absolutely essential for the other 50%. Like, why send a super expensive humanoid into a burning building when you could send a much cheaper dog-like robot with cameras? If it burns, “it’s okay,” he says. Plus, Faraday Future is really committing to “Made in USA,” with software already developed here, assembly starting in a year, and full US components by 2028 backed by a $5 billion investment. They’ve already delivered over 500 units and are aiming for 2,000 by the end of 2026.
