Content management = People Management

I find it interesting that Peter Merholz is mentioning that content management systems don’t really work.

(He’s using Movable Type for his blog and is not giving individual posts individual pages; you’ll have to scroll.)

I found this out for the first time when I built a rudimentary PHP-based content management system for my company’s website way back in 1999. It frankly sucked, hard, but it worked, and I was, at the time, very proud of it.

Good thing, because I – the person who built it so I wouldn’t have to post all the web content myself – was the only one who every used it.

Yippee.
