Anthropic: Huge Pricing Issues With Glitching Claude Code Limits?

My latest at Forbes: Developers using Claude Code, Anthropic’s agentic coding tool, are reporting that usage limits are burning through at an alarming rate. One user bought a $100 plan and watched 37% of a five-hour usage limit disappear from a single basic CRUD prompt. Another long-term max-tier subscriber reported a simple workflow consuming the equivalent of a month’s usage in a single session.

The reports are widespread, spanning multiple subreddits and coding forums, and they appear to have surfaced suddenly rather than gradually. That pattern points to a software change or a metering bug rather than users simply underestimating usage.

Anthropic acknowledged the issue and said they’re investigating. The broader concern: agentic coding tools have complex, unpredictable compute patterns, and the pricing and metering models haven’t fully caught up. If developers can’t trust that their usage maps predictably to their bill, that’s a real barrier to adoption. Anthropic will need to get this right.
