Gemini 3 Approaches The Uber-Software Point: AI As Every UI

AI is the new UI

Is AI the new UI? People have meant that in terms of conversation being the new user interface to accomplish tasks via software, but it’s growing into much more than that.

Summarizing my most recent Forbes post:

Google’s new Gemini 3 pushes AI closer to becoming the next universal interface. The model introduces “generative user interfaces:” dynamic, custom-built UIs that appear instantly to explain concepts, visualize complex problems, or create interactive tools on demand. Ask about the three-body problem and Gemini 3 generates a physics simulation; ask about mortgages and it builds a full calculator tailored to your inputs.

Google says Gemini 3 is its most intelligent model yet, with stronger reasoning, deeper multimodal understanding, and better intent recognition. Interface pioneer Jakob Nielsen calls generative UI only the third major shift in computing history, following batch processing and command-based interaction.

Instead of designers and engineers building fixed interfaces, Gemini 3 can create and discard them in real time, bringing us closer to a world where the UI is whatever the AI decides is most helpful in the moment.
